SUP Yoga
Yoga on a SUP will reinvigorate you and push you to become even better than you thought possible — all while enjoying the sensation of floating on water.

The Yoga Training consists a solid foundation for those who are seeking to explore the true gifts of yoga and share it with others.
Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation and Philosophy is integrated in the daily classes.
The SUP Yoga Classes are held in a private outdoor pool as well as on some of our flatwater tour locations.

Serra da Arrábida
A day of paddling in Portinho da Arrábida, one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal lets you experience clear waters as well as the unique flora and fauna to be found on the tiny island “Pedra da Anixa” just off the beach. The Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, amidst the deep blue sea and the green of the hills, is an excellent place to test and improve your paddling skills and relax in the natural surroundings. Situated by the sea, the park offers some of the most stunning coastal scenery in the Lisbon area.
São Martinho do Porto
São Martinho do Porto is a nice village at a beautiful and calm bay. This bay is a shell-shaped lagoon. It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by a small passage between the hills. Around the bay is a wide sandy beach, and next to the beach hills and dunes. During summer season there are many blue-white tents on the beach. We will explore the bay and work on different paddling skills during our time in the water, followed by a nice lunch at a local fish restaurant.
Peniche & Atouguia da Baleia
A day to visit Peniche, an historic fishing village and a chance to paddle on the nearby lagoon in Atouguia da Baleia (Barragem de São Domingos) will both show you a different “side” of Portuguese culture as well as a peaceful lagoon setting full of birds and wildlife.

This retreat isn’t only about Yoga & Paddling, it’s also about exploring the outdoors!
Explore the surrounding beaches and valleys of Ericeira, visit the beautiful Natural Park in Mafra and take part in a meditative walk on Ericeira’s Surfing Reserve Cliff.
Hiking around the valleys and beaches of Ericeira allows an unspoiled and uncluttered chance to experience our unique sights, sounds and smells.
The Natural Park in Mafra, a grand monument, once known as The Royal Hunting Reserve, was created by King João V as a leisure park for the royal family.
On the trails, you are likely to spot wild boar and red deer, and if you’re quiet, you just might cross paths with a fox or a mongoose. You’ll also see a great variety of birds such as the barbary partridges, cuckoos, larks, thrushes, song thrushes, kingfishers and owls.
The meditative walk high on the cliff overlooking Ericeira’s Surfing Reserve will leave you feeling relaxed and more in tune with yourself and your surroundings.
These outings aim to balance your body’s energy and create vibrant health on every level.
Improve Your Paddling
Yes, you know how to paddle… And YES, we’re going to help you paddle BETTER!

The paddle technique workshop will teach/reinforce things such as:
• Demonstrate correct SUP etiquette.
• Understand Equipment – Board, Paddle, leash.
• Enter and exit the water correctly.
• Paddle in a standing and kneeling position with balance and confidence.
• Identify correct paddling technique – 3 P’s – Position, Posture, Paddle.
• Identify the 5 phases of the paddling stroke.
• Learn how to paddle with proper technique.
• Demonstrate correct methods of changing direction.
• Demonstrate turning – back paddling left and right.
• Demonstrate how to stop, safe wipe-out and dismount.
• Improve/Learn how to perform a pivot turn.

Sara Oliveira started her path in Yoga in early 2000. In 2015, when she first encountered Stand Up Paddle, she knew these two activities were going to become a large part of her life.
She is a Certified Yoga and Sup Yoga Teacher, as well as a SUP Instructor.

Tiago Silva is the owner and manager of Mauka Lodge as well as operating his performance paddling venture Functional Paddling. He is passionate about the connection we have to our surroundings, and is always looking for ways to create harmony in life.
Extending this passion from the ocean into SUP Yoga is a natural progression in his ongoing goals of making things better in and around his life.
